- Calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) based on your age, gender, weight, and height using the following formula:
For men: BMR = 10 x weight (kg) + 6.25 x height (cm) – 5 x age (years) + 5 For women: BMR = 10 x weight (kg) + 6.25 x height (cm) – 5 x age (years) – 161
- Choose your activity level from the following options:
- Sedentary: little to no exercise
- Lightly active: exercise 1-3 times per week
- Moderately active: exercise 3-5 times per week
- Very active: exercise 6-7 times per week
- Extra active: very strenuous exercise or physical job
- Multiply your BMR by your activity level to get your daily calorie needs.
